The blouse and a new 20s dress

I was happy when it stopped raining and the sun tried to show its face through the clouds. I washed the fabrics and hanged them outside.  And guess what? Before the fabrics dried it rained. Luckily I have some space above the staircase to hang them.

I finished one blouse. Went outside and tried to take its pictures with the spring flowers. I gave up after a couple of shots. It was so windy.

Today I began a new project. It is a 20s party  dress made of stretch polyester with vertical stripes of fine sequins. This one is black fabric with silver sequins. I also bought black with gold sequins. Yes, many new 20s dresses are coming.

I combine the fabric with stretch lace. The dress will be fully lined with cream-colored fabric. This way you will see the nice pattern of the lace better. It will turn head, not only because of the fab design but also because people will think that the dress is not lined! The lining has the color closed to skin color!

Because of the sequin pattern, I have to plan carefully how to cut the fabric to avoid having the sequins around the seams. It is tricky to sew sequin fabric because you need to cut off the sequins along the seams. Otherwise, your needle can break while sewing. Also, you need to be careful to cut only the sequins and not the thread used to string them.

The lace is also used for the waistband. The skirt part has small pleats all around.

This is the dress so far. I have not sewn the skirt hem yet because I am not sure whether I will add some fringe to the bottom hem. I think I will most likely leave the fringe.

But first the cotton blouses of all sizes need to be sewn, so I can list them for sale.

Stay tuned for more news and updates…
